About Me

Hi, I'm Elizabeth Simmons, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Welcome to Eastern Shore Lactation, located in Spanish Fort, Alabama!  I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition from Appalachian State University and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.  I have worked with breastfeeding mothers since 2013 and became an IBCLC in 2017.  My mission is to support families in meeting their breastfeeding goals by offering evidence-based feeding support.  I am blessed with a loving husband, Joseph, and an energetic toddler, Jack.  We welcomed a second child into our family this past year, a sweet baby girl named Ellie. I love spending time with my family, traveling and reading.

My Services

Prenatal Consultation

Great way to learn more about breastfeeding before baby's arrival.  Did you have difficulty breastfeeding a previous child or feel very anxious about breastfeeding?  We can make a plan to help you feel prepared to make your breastfeeding journey a wonderful experience.  Appropriate consult for expected special needs infants, previous maternal breast surgery, chronic maternal health concerns or induced/adoptive lactation.

Milk Supply Concerns

Manage an over supply or build up an under supply.

Breast or Nipple Pain/Latch Concerns

Management of engorgement, plugged ducts, breast pain.  Difficulty latching or pain when latched.  Tongue or lip tie concerns.

Infant Nutrition/Growth

Learn how to feel confident that baby is eating enough.  We can work together to address slow weight gain or continued weight loss in baby.

Pumping & Bottle Feeding

Learn how to properly fit pump flanges and how to use your pump.  Back-to-work support to develop a pumping routine.  Bottle feeding skills for the breastfed baby.

Weaning Support

How to gently wean baby or how to expedite weaning in an unexpected circumstance.

About a Visit

I come to you in the comfort and privacy of your own home.  We will typically schedule 90 minutes so that I can get to know you and your baby and identify any feeding difficulties.  When baby is ready I will observe a feeding.  We will work together to develop a care plan that helps you meet your breastfeeding goals.  I do not expect your house to be spotless or you to be dressed up (pjs are great!) I am also in the season of motherhood with 2 very small children at home and want you to feel relaxed and enjoy this special time with your little one.
